Who are you?

I`m Helen Bourke. I`m a professional nanny as well as a qualified yoga teacher.

What brought you to yoga and how long have you been practising yoga?

I wanted to do yoga for years but was too scared to try it. Then my mother became sick and I needed an outlet; I saw a yoga school advertised near where I lived and went to classes there. Yoga helped me cope with the stress of my mother`s illness.I`ve now been practising yoga for 16 years.

What has the practice of yoga brought to your life?

Flexibility, harmony and strength of both mind and body.

What made you decide to become a teacher and what aspects of teaching at Harmony do you most enjoy?

I wanted to become a teacher to challenge myself and also to teach my love of yoga to others. The aspects I love most about Harmony School of Yoga are the people and the atmosphere.

What is the funniest/weirdest thing that`s happpened or been said while you have been teaching yoga?

The realisation that when you teach a class whatever you do your students will copy ...so if you scratch yourself chances are your students will do that too!

Finally what`s your personal ambition or wish for your yoga practice in the future?

To be more flexible and to keep on enjoying my yoga.
